Columbus Forge is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to be a key contributor to our Manufacturing Engineering team. You will be involved in continuous improvement using lean principles to reduce cycle times, set up, part cost and lead times, while improving throughput. You can be part of integrating product across multiple processes that support a Lean Transformation Plan. Your accomplishments improving the quality of the parts produced in our Isothermal Forging business unit will be measured by reductions in scrap, rework and repair and non-conformances.
Responsibilities:
•Develop and implement plans that are in line with the business strategy to further our world class technology portfolio.
•Provide operational engineering support to develop technologies and processes which support the growth curve and cost reduction targets.
•Leverage manufacturing innovations to improve cost, delivery, and quality of rotor forgings.
•Assist with problem solving during manufacturing related investigations. Own RCCA (root cause corrective action) for corrective action and mistake-proofing non-conformances in the part families.
•Implement and monitor process certification and report on the health of the forge cell as it relates to our customers’ quality requirements
•Develop process health through strategies with the use of PFMEA, process capability analysis, and PPAP to drive world class innovations supporting quality, throughput, and metallurgical requirements.
•Author and maintain clear, effective work instructions and standard work
•Develop thermo-mechanical processes using statistical methods that meet or exceed the business objective for process and quality control.
•Perform research and development activities to support other functional areas regarding technical and or material/metallurgical/manufacturing issues related to quality, operations, and processes.
•Support operational excellence using statistical analysis for process control and certification.
•Demonstrate commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures.
•Create capital plans and specify equipment to meet the growing needs of the forging manufacturing unit.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, or technically related field and 3 years of manufacturing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
•Knowledge of thermal processing of nickel and titanium super alloys.
•Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tool usage
•Ability to work with CAD tools, and create engineering blue prints using ASME Y14.5 or equivalent
•Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (ACE, 6S, etc.)
