The GTF Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Operations team is seeking a Process & Methods Engineer to support the PW1000G global network’s engine overhaul shops (U.S., Europe, Japan, Singapore, India).  In addition to the overhaul shops’ engineering and operations community, the position will work closely with the core Systems Engineering and Aftermarket Engine Services community.  Responsibilities will focus around improving data sharing and analysis tools within the MRO network, analysis of assembly and test process variation drivers, workscoping recommendation automation and improved data cohesion across the engine life cycle.  Special emphasis will also be required in the engine balance and vibration areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Root Cause / Corrective Action – MRO Network first pass yield analysis and key insight/recommendation into mitigation plans for vibration challenges.
  • Engine Balance/Vibration analysis to support DAT assembly needs – Trim balance solutions, PWSTACK/PWBAL updates, troubleshooting, and technical support.
  • Lead statement of work to create a digital application to store engine data for all MRO GTF inductions.
  • Develop an automated method to maintain First Pass Yield pass/fail, labor hours, and turn-around time metrics
  • Engine workscoping – analysis of available on-wing data and collaboration with Engine Services to ensure adequate workscoping decisions are made.
  • Update 24K on-wing vibration workscope criteria to automate shop maintenance instructions
  • Risk assessments – time on wing and risk to passing acceptance test for “Project Visit” overhaul visits
  • Standardized data collection protocols – driving to a future state for current MRO engine centers (DATs) to achieve a near real time data capture state for key assembly and tests processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • Ability to travel is required domestically and internationally up to 5%.  Must have or be willing to obtain a valid US Passport.
  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Rotor Dynamics discipline
  • Experience in PW analysis tools including but not limited to: ITE, Minitab, FDAP, Athena
  • Understanding of PWSTACK / PWBAL tools as they relate to GTF Assembly process
  • Proficiency in programming macros/analysis scripts (Python/MS Excel/MS Access DB)
  • Candidate presently has a valid US Passport
