We are looking for a Producibility Engineer to support the Electric Systems power generation department and provide technical and operation support. This position is responsible for the manufacture and design of Integrated Drive Generators, Variable Frequency Generators, motors, and ram air turbines.
The Producibility Engineer is part of the Integrated Product Development team supporting the design and manufacture of mechanical and electromagnetic equipment. In this role the Producibility Engineer collaborates with the design engineering team, manufacturing engineering, and suppliers to meet cost, weight, and reliability targets.
The Producibility Engineer will demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. Aggressively search for alternative solutions when legacy solutions are not adequate; establish trust and credibility in relating to others; demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and work well with all levels of the organization.
Hybrid:
Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed
This role is eligible for relocation, when qualified
Travel requirement – 25%
Primary Responsibilities:
Producibility support of electromagnetic aerospace components including laminated cores, windings, and assemblies
Review of engineering drawings for electromagnetic design and manufacturability
Electromagnetic tooling design and review (punching, assembly, autowind)
Manufacturing process development and problem solving with plant sites and suppliers.
Standard work development and practices
Cost reduction and working with the plant sites regarding standard costs
Production support related to identifying Root Cause and Corrective Actions
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with manufacturing (generator and motor assemblies for aerospace applications) electromagnetic assemblies
Knowledge of manufacturing electromagnetic lamination materials including the stamping and machining processes
Knowledge of winding electromagnetic assemblies and autowinding equipment
Ability to work with electromagnetic material suppliers (Raw material and punching suppliers, and autowind)
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Product knowledge and background in mechanical and electrical aerospace equipment
