Collins Aerospace is growing the Producibility organization and is looking for an Engineer who is ready to drive the Mechanical Power Conversion product lines (gearboxes, air turbine starters, and fuel/oil pumps) in cost reduction projects, support of proposal work, addressing product producibility issues, and evaluation and development of manufacturing technologies. This role may require some international travel.  This position reports directly to the MPC Producibility Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

Strategically, this role is responsible for:

• Identify/develop/implement cost reduction opportunities.
• Track and report product health and cost metrics
• Define core manufacturing technologies required in support of the Product Line strategy.
• Stay current with relevant manufacturing technology advances in the industry.
• Drive technology readiness and manufacturing readiness level progression in the implementation of new manufacturing methodologies.

Tactically, this role will be responsible for:

• Supporting Design for Manufacturability & Assembly during the proposal and product definition phase of design
• Detail print review and signoff for part producibility
• Product cost reduction and health improvement leadership
• Design to cost tracking
• Engineering representation in sourcing strategy conversations
• Global Operation and supply chain process change review and approval
• New manufacturing technology identification, evaluation, and adoption.

This position reports directly to the MPC Producibility Manager.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR
• In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge of product cost and business case modeling

• Demonstrated cost reduction leadership

• Demonstrated team management and leadership in the successful completion of major projects

• Experience in design of complex mechanical componentry

• Experience in Producibility Engineering or detailed exposure to Design for Manufacturability & Assembly processes and activity

• An understanding and interest in the latest trends in manufacturing technology

• Experience and/or understanding of procurement/planning processes

• Basic understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
