    Position Overview:

    This requisition is looking for an experienced Project Execution Manager (Engineering Leader) in Lenexa KS who is passionate about leading teams and delivering a high quality, reliable product. This Engineering Leader will lead multiple project execution teams comprised Engineering Managers, Engineering Project Leads, Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Design Engineers, and global engineering resources based in India and the Philippines. These skilled and diverse Engineering teams are responsible for the full lifecycle of all Galley Inserts products including project scoping/quoting, product introduction, production support, value engineering, reliability upgrades, and product retirement.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Oversees project execution teams through the full product life cycle from inception to obsolescence.
    • Leads four Engineering Managers and multiple global engineering leaders, each leading or supporting a different phase of support.
    • Employ strong, steady, and broad leadership skills to effectively execute sizable, diverse, and complex engineering scope including a unique mix of continual engineering projects, a variety of distinctive personalities, and a firm while manageable business pressure.
    • Creates and maintains a collaborative, respectful, customer driven, diverse, inclusive, and time sensitive team environment which excels at project execution and completion.
    • Mentor, guide, and develop managers who lead Engineering Project Leads, Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Design Engineers.
    • Directs team ownership of quoting, project plans, schedules, on time delivery, budgets, risks, quality, performance, testing, costing, administration, and engineering operation for all projects. Identifies, develops, and gathers necessary resources within and beyond project execution team to ensure project completion.
    • Works extremely closely with engineering leaders and engineering teams comprised of competencies including but not limited to Software, Electrical, Certification, Systems, and Reliability.
    • Drives strategic planning of Project Execution teams to improve performance, efficiency, collaboration, communication, and more to ensure business targets are met.
    • Employs a strong sense of urgency to keep the team on track and moving forward with a resourceful intent towards the optimal solution.
    • Ability to build strong, respecting, attentive and comfortable relationships with cross-functional peers such as Supply Chain, Quality, Production, and more.
    • Collaborates closely with Engineering Process and Tool leaders to continually raise the bar and encourage constant continuous improvement through yearly goal assignments.
    • Utilizes product experts and the use of design reviews throughout projects to ensure design quality and technical competency.
    • Ensures latest procedures and processes are followed during project execution activities.
    • Conducts recurring walk around review (WAR) meetings, prepares reports, problem solves, and communicates status / performance to Engineering and Business Leadership.
    • Monitors and takes action from forward-looking capacity tools and backward-looking time tracking tools. Leads project execution team and collaborates with peer engineering leaders to set project priorities, allocate tasks, allocate resources, and line up subsequent projects for future execution.
    • Engages our team in a broad, comprehensive, and constant focus on reliability throughout all phases of the product lifecycle and project execution.

    The candidate selected for this position will work a hybrid schedule, preferably Lenexa KS, 3 – 4 days a week. We are willing to consider the right candidate within a commutable distance to Lenexa for business.

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. 

    Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader. 

    Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Typically a Bachelor's  or a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering from a four-year accredited college/university OR
    •  An Advanced Degree in a related field and 7+ years of Engineering experience OR
    • In absence of a degree, 14+ years of Engineering experience 
    • 7+ years of design/leadership experience.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • MBA or equivalent.
    • 10+ years of design/leadership experience.
    • Advanced Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
    • Prior experience in design, mechanical, electro-mechanical, heat transfer, thermal, and thermodynamic systems for commercial aircraft products including but not limited to beverage makers, ovens, refrigeration, and trash compaction is a plus.
    • Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
    • Familiarity with FAA requirements a plus.
