We have an exciting job opportunity for a Section Manager, Manufacturing Engineering - California Materials & Process within our Common Engineering SBU to oversee and lead a support team consisting of Manufacturing Engineers who are technically trained individuals with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience. In this role, you will organize and deploy personnel to Programs while prioritizing tasks to meet customer needs while supporting the manufacturing of Space and Airborne products built by Raytheon Intelligence & Space.

The Section Manager, Manufacturing Engineering - California Materials & Process will report to the California Materials and Process Department Manager and be accountable for the deployment, training, coaching, and mentorship of approximately 15-20 Manufacturing, Process, and Program Engineers.  You will be responsible for your team’s performance management, career and training development, staffing, recognition, and personnel support and management.  You will also assess and improve the overall structure that supports operations, and ensure tools and processes are in place to make knowledge available within the Manufacturing Engineering discipline.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Optimize staffing assignments to meet the cost, schedule, and performance demands of multiple Programs
  • Ensure the quality of the work products produced by your Section
  • Direct and support analysis and design activities to ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements in concert with best Engineering practices 
  • Engage regularly with Program Leads to provide ongoing schedule updates, estimates updates at complete inputs, and associated Department and/or Center level approvals
  • Frequent interaction with multi-disciplined Engineering Team Leads, Chief Engineers, and Program Managers to ensure team members are meeting the needs of our internal and external customers
  • Ensure Engineering discipline in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action
  • Coordinate with multiple Department to assess engineering discipline and delivery capabilities across manufacturing
  • Review designs, verify solutions, and create the manufacturing approach for our Space and Airborne products to ensure manufacturability

Clearance Requirement

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance, U.S. Citizenship required

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience leading technical teams and/or product delivery efforts on Programs (experience on Defense and Space Programs highly preferred)  
  • Strong Engineering aptitude and analytical skills 
  • Experience building, coaching, and facilitating diverse Engineering teams with the proven ability to successfully integrate, motivate, and lead  
  • Extensive experience presenting and communicating technical data and information to Sr. level internal stakeholders and customers
  • Strong experience with advanced MS Excel functionality (e.g. – MACROS, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables etc.) and familiarity with MS Project
  • Experience in analyzing data such as cycle time, efficiency, capacity, utilization, etc. 
  • Demonstrated skills in risk identification and risk management

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience manufacturing circuit card assemblies
  • Experience working with low-volume, high-reliability products
  • Experience with MRP systems (ex. SAP)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing
  • Customer and company oriented and driven to meet or exceed expectations
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude to serve as an example to the team and colleagues
  • Self-starter and able to manage personal and team workload

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Typical requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or equivalent experience with 10+ years of relevant experience OR
  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or equivalent experience with 8+ years of relevant experience
