Job Description:
The Components Analytical Group within the Mechanical Systems Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) Module Center is seeking an engineer with strong analytical, design, and leadership skills to expand the team. Activities will involve design and analyses of carbon face seals, rolling element bearings, and some cross over into validation and project related activity for commercial and military P&W gas turbine engines.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and analysis of hardware, manage suppliers and fabrication, and provide test support
Routine supplier, customer, and P&W discipline interaction to perform and manage design, analysis, validation, and production of new and legacy bearing and seal related components.
Failure mode investigation and analysis using P&W root cause and corrective action methods and tools.
Field support with suppliers and customers related to new designs, rig testing, and potential investigations.
Technical leadership with emphasis on task scheduling, resource, and supplier management.
Mentoring and training engineers using best practices related to bearing and seal design and analysis.
Presentation of design and analytical results to executive management
Continuous improvement of engineering standard work including development of tools to support new technologies and improved analytical substantiation.
Regular involvement and contributions to other P&W process improvement efforts
Travel less than 10%
Basic Qualifications:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and minimum 5+ years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3+ years experience.
3+ years minimum experience in aerospace design or analysis required. Gas turbine experience recommended.
Bearings or Seals background/experience.
English fluency (verbal and written)
US Citizenship due to government contracts
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead technical teams
Demonstrated project related skills such as task/schedule management and resource/outsourcing management
Experience with NX or other CAD software preferred. Additional usage of tools including MATLAB, Python, or ANSYS also preferred.
Security Clearance preferred; willing to obtain and maintain
