    Senior Electrical Project Engineer (Onsite)

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

    Position Overview:

    The successful Senior Electrical Project Engineer candidate will be working on several programs simultaneously with different customers and end item applications. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for leading the Space Systems Component Engineering team deliverables across all programs. To do so, the individual must collaborate with stakeholders, product owners, Integrated Product Team leads, and the Components Engineering Manager to assess priority, ensure all inputs are available to kick off work, and provide up to date progress reporting. Stakeholders include leaders & Subject Matter Experts from Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Design, Supplier Quality, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planners, and Purchasing to drive delivery of our work product within the approved budget and schedule.  The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will play a critical role in driving project execution while meeting both internal and external customer expectations. This position requires interaction with our customers & suppliers including delivery of technical documentations.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Coordinating project tasking, cross-functional team collaboration, and stakeholder meetings.
    • Capturing action items, creating work tickets, supporting the Components team to drive action closure on time and on budget, and identifying increases in scope beyond baseline
    • Lead risk assessment reviews & investigations, complete with detailed mitigation plans including funding and staffing needs.
    • Create technical plans with associated schedules and risk mitigation plans which ensure the timely delivery of error-free engineering products, services, and contract deliverable in strict compliance with company policy and procedures.
    • Performs bidding and planning activities based on past actuals. Estimates work and is accountable for cost & schedule targets.
    • Ensure that the requirements of the program’s earned value management system (EVMS) are satisfied through the maintenance of performance metrics against an integrated program master schedule. Included in this activity shall be the institution of an engineering Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), program/project planning targets, completion estimating, and basis of estimate for new activities.
    • Lead an Agile engineering team and help realize process improvement initiatives.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
    • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • BA/BS in Electrical, and/or Systems Engineering degree w/ 10 + years of experience
    • MA/MS in Electrical, and/or Systems Engineering degree w/ 7 + years of experience
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong computer skills, MS Office, Windchill, PLM
    • Familiarity with systems engineering practices, including requirements decomposition, derating analysis, and system verification.
    • First-hand experience with electrical design for harsh environments
    • Preferred familiarity with Space components, their application, and the associated process.
    • Experience and familiarity with product qualification, and production build and test, with an expertise in low volume space qualified hardware
    • Natural presence/comfortable presenting to internal and external customers
    • Experience troubleshooting problems on the production floor and developing solutions that maintain product quality while minimizing cost/schedule impact
    • Ability to bring team members together and work to resolve problems
    • Proven planning, adaptability, organizational and negotiation skills for effective team management
    • Ability to anticipate project risks and build contingency plans
    • Interface with both internal operations and engineering functions to facilitate assembly, test, and delivery of hardware.
    • Participate in regular reviews with the customer to communicate status of contracts and schedule.
    • Develop and manage program schedules to drive on-time contract deliveries.
    • Participate in preparing contract proposals, including BOE and BOM estimates.
    • Good understanding of Earned Value methodology with the ability to forecast program demands, track project completion and maintain accurate estimate to complete.
    • Experience or willingness to learn Agile methodology as defined by Collins Aerospace, and the drive to collaboratively implement changes to teamwork approaches
    • Process engineering changes to ensure high quality, conforming hardware is being received, built, and delivered to our customers
