The Senior Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Metrology works in a high-volume Collins Aerospace (Maintenance & Repair Operations (MRO) supporting Metrology and the overall product testing and acceptance environment.  The Mechanical Engineer reads part drawings, acceptance test procedures and writes work instructions. They drive manufacturing reliability and quality through calibration support which ensures all units shipped out to customers are well tested and free from defects.

The Senior Engineer leverages their strong computer skills and experience working in a fast-paced enjoyable team environment to develop their long-term career growth.

The Senior Engineer, Mechanical Engineering is Onsite.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use a fundamental understanding of dimensional measurement techniques, fluid and flow mechanics, pressure systems and basic instrumentation

• Apply information from technical manuals, engineering drawings and documents in the calibration environment to solve challenges

• Create test work instructions and test procedures from design and/or Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) specifications

• Write procedures and test specification for Acceptance Testing and/or system level testing

• Analyze data or test yields for each process which measures what is the yields expected and/or acceptable

• Use continuous improvement tools and techniques

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

• U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Mechanical Engineering degree

• Education or experience with of automated test equipment

• Experience with lean manufacturing theory and concepts
