    This position is for a Structural Engineering professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise. In this role you can expect to conduct dynamic and static Finite Element Analysis (FEA) analyses in support of new product development optimization and certification efforts.
     

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling
    • Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs and analysis tools
    • Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical and maintenance designs
    • Supplies stress and structural analysis results of new product development design configurations to the design and certification groups based on the provided geometry model
    • Performs structural static testing of component and subsystems to support validation of dynamic FEA models
    • Analyzes design configurations, interprets analysis results, reports results to key stakeholders, and acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
    • Develops, designs, plans, and implements, processes, procedures, work instructions, etc. utilizing standard engineering or technology principles to complete assignments
    • Provides technical feedback and consultation to other organizations involved in design activities
    • Participates in technology transfer initiatives with R&D and Product Engineering as a structural analysis SME
    • Reviews others' analysis result to ensure its accuracy
    • Interprets analysis results and converts them to design change suggestions
    • Correlates product-level analysis and testing results
    • Investigates opportunities to limit required testing and reduce certification costs with FEA criticality assessments
    • Provides weight reduction suggestions based on FEA results
    • Accumulates evidence for FAA use of FEA simulation results as certification tools
    • Performs other related duties as required

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Working knowledge of CAE software including Hypermesh/SimXpert, LS-DYNA/Nastran/Marc, Hyperview/LS-PREPOST.
    • Experience in working with anthropomorphic dummy (ATD) injury simulation
    • Experience with Impact related analysis using LS-DYNA
