    The Collins Aerospace Avionics Vision Systems business located in Wilsonville, OR, makes Head Up Guidance Systems (HGS) for commercial, and military platforms, in addition to, helmet mounted display (HMD) technologies for current and future fighter jets. Whether it’s a nighttime operation or low visibility in adverse weather conditions, our HGS with enhanced vision systems gives our customers the power and assurance of unprecedented situational and terrain awareness. Our HMD technology provides pilots with advanced situational awareness and gives them critical information on their helmet’s visor, enhancing response times and reducing workload. 

    New Product Introduction (NPI) is involved early in the product and technical development cycle before product transitions into full-rate, standard production. The NPI team consists of program managers, manufacturing engineers, and analysts. As a member of NPI team, you are dedicated to improving the program’s quality, cost, and schedule.  

    This Industrial Engineering Technician (IE Tech) opportunity comes from adding a second IE Tech to the team to support current and future program growth. Currently the NPI team has a Lead IE Tech who will mentor, onboard, and provide day-to-day direction to the Senior IE Tech. The IE Tech career path contains the option to become a Master IE Tech or to grow into a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer, based on performance and obtaining a formal Engineering degree.  

    The IE Tech will bring hands on build and/or test experience into the NPI team to champion processes, work instructions, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure producible and repeatable products are transitioned into standard production.   

    Being onsite is required to ensure daily and weekly plans are achieved. Success in the first three to six months will come from mentoring and shadowing the Lead IE Tech and Manufacturing Engineers to learn the IE Tech and NPI processes.  

    Job Responsibilities 

    • Provides technical support, troubleshoots problems, and resolves production issues of advanced scope and complexity.  
    • Interacts with and builds relationships with assemblers and technicians to capture hands-on feedback and translate feedback into actions.   
    • Creates and maintains assembly line work instructions detailed instructions to ensure compliance to drawings, specifications, industry standards, and customer contractual requirements.   
    • Creates and maintains the master route sequences and BOM data in SAP/CSI. 
    • Recommends changes needed in established policies and procedures in analyzing situations. 
    • Works closely with engineering and cross functional teams to evaluate drawing changes affecting assembly process and instructions. 
    • Engages in various aspects of the engineering design, product development, design to cost (DTC), design for manufacture (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and product prototyping processes.  
    • Removes roadblocks affecting production in a timely manner by coordinating activities and cross-functional resources.  
    • Champions internal quality resolution to create systematic and sustainable improvements.  
    • Identifies and proactively addresses risks and opportunities to achieve the business plan’s quality, cost, and schedule goals.  

    Preferred Qualifications:   

    • Experience with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Teams. 
    • Corel Draw, or similar graphic layout and photo editing program.   
    • Solid Works and/or CAD; exposure to 3D modeling and printing. 
    • Adobe PDF editing Software.  
    • Engineering and project tracking applications.  

    Preferred Characteristics:

    • Familiar with aerospace industry, quality, and regulatory requirements.  
    • Understands manufacturing processes, roles, systems, and objectives; works effectively within.   
    • Experienced with engineering drawings, technical specifications, SAP, and configuration management applications.   
    • Visual communication and technical writing experience.  
    • Knowledgeable across various types of builds and sub assembly systems.  
    • Hands on continuous improvement experience.  
    • Self-directed; strong planning and organizational skills and is able adapt to changing priorities and assignments.  
    • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, prudent risk-taking, and adaptive response to challenges. 
    • Effective communicator with good judgment and strong critical thinking skills. 

    Basic Qualifications  

    • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience, OR 

    • In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required. 

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder. 

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Must be within 60 miles of Wilsonville, OR.
