    Collins Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Project Execution.  We’re looking for a passionate professional to accept a high level of responsibility within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

    Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Manages medium to large scale projects from initial concept to full implementation across multiple facilities.
    • Review and validate recommendations regarding manufacturability of existing and future products and advise modifications or adaptations to address quality, customer, product, or productivity constraints.
    • Drive Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs (both direct and indirect) using CORE principles and data driven decision making.
    • Maintain standard work documentation on each process, including manufacturing documents and production process routings.
    • Become proficient identifying common defects and issues for assigned processes and learn the proper mitigations for those defects and issues.
    • Develop and implement cost savings projects, new technology, materials, new products, and processes to target reductions in scrap, rework and repair.
    • Provide recommendations on process efficiency, safety, production flow and sequencing of operations.
    • Lead and develop with cross functional teams the PFMEA’s and Control Plans.
    • Develops, designs and plans for assembly and materials handling.
    • Plans sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
    • Provides guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
    • Application of state-of-the-art technology, methods, equipment, waste disposal processes, and utilities to preserve and extend the life of the plant and its related infrastructure.
    • Draft and execute CAPEX spending plan and tracking tool for and maintain green rating for all metrics related to CAPEX.
    • Generate and monitor to closure all CAPEX projects per the plan, including capital and expensed AR’s and new equipment requests by site.
    • Coordinate all (EIS) Entry into Service items including hardware, tooling, standard work creation on all AC platforms to ensure smooth operator entry into service. This includes meetings, readiness of service centers, supporting documents, SAP Task List requirements, etc.
    • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
    • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Manufacturing/Operations, Engineering and/or Quality/Supplier Quality experience preferred.

    • Prior experience in new product development, process development, project execution phases, and customer support preferred.

    • Experience leading change implementation and change management preferred.

    • Knowledge of PFMEA documentation and PPAP requirements, and AS9100 standards preferred.

    • Ability to work in cross-functional teams with operations, maintenance, quality, test, and design to implement robust processes preferred.
