The Ground Launched Effectors Department (GLED), under the Mechanical Product Team (MPT), is seeking a Modeling and Design Section Leader to lead the team which supports Technical Data Package (TDP) creation, modeling, and design of parametric models and 2D Drawing support for programs under the GLED program list. The department is looking for a Section Lead to provide frontline management activities and leadership for approximately 15+ tech support engineers supporting the design, drafting, and modeling, and over all integrity of the technical data package for our RMS products. The Section Lead role includes the technical development of people, training, performance management, hiring, and resource allocation.
Job Summary:
The candidate will ensure two-way communication for section members; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments, performance, and recognition. Responsibilities also include coordinating program staffing needs, optimizing resource utilization, and interviewing applicants.
As a Section Lead, the candidate will need to lead large, diverse teams of 15+ tech support engineers by providing highly skilled mechanical engineering design and drafting support services across all program phases, while focusing on TDP integrity. Daily management of the section personnel, including securing work assignments for the Section and ensuring the Section completes assignments efficiently and effectively. Leveraging the network to identify opportunities, engage in proposals, assess scope and determine proper section engagement. Close partnering with the other Modeling and Design Section Leads across RMD is expected to optimize the opportunities and resources of the Modeling and Design workforce. Representation of the Section within the directorate and communication of key business-related information to Section members. Leadership of process innovation initiatives related to design “documentation” and validation, helping the directorate and department meet annual goals. Communication of successes from the group up through functional management. Thorough knowledge of RMD, Industry drawing standards, CREO, and cPDM are highly desired.

An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted 3 additional years of experience.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline; or Associates Degree in an Engineering Technology discipline additional 2 years of Engineering Design experience may be substituted for each 1 year of college
Principal Manager (M5) - Minimum 10 years of prior practical and/or leadership experience in mechanical, electro-mechanical and/or electrical hardware design and documentation
Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) design / drafting experience; PTC Creo Suite, CREO, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Siemens EDA Suite, Raster, Myriad.
Experience with ASME Industry Standards and/or Practices.
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
