    Position summary

    generation of advanced engine and aircraft systems. The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will also convert product requirements into total system solutions, lead trade studies, and implement common work practices.

    This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate external and internal customer needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

    • Perform system integration of engine control system components, including electronic engine controls, control effectors and sensors, and hydro mechanical components such as: engine actuators, fuel pumps, and fuel controls.

    • Utilize robust Mechanical Systems Engineering practices in support of projects assigned.

    • Manage control system analysis to support requirements development and verification.

    • Perform System level coordination of engine requirements and verification planning with multi-disciplinary teams within Collins Aerospace and our customers.

    • Generate architecture studies.

    • Support issue investigations for development and fielded hardware, software, and subsystems using relentless Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 5 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

    • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).

    • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

    • Leadership, organizational, and project management experience including risk management and project scheduling.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Advanced degree in engineering and minimum 3 years of experience in a related field.

    • Experience in control system design.

    • Proficiency in MATLAB, Doors, Dymola, Mathcad, or Smart Sketch.

    • Hardware Integration and Electrical Electronic experience.

    • Fuel and Actuation Systems experience.

    • Flight Controls Systems experience.

    • Mechanical systems experience in Thermal Modeling, Dynamic Modeling, Safety Analysis, and Verification and Validation.
