Position Role Type:
The Senior NDT Technician performs nondestructive testing on various types of metals using dye penetrant and digital radiographic techniques and equipment.
Perform the NDT operations for which qualified and interpret/evaluate results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications.
Complete associated NDT documentation for submission to regulatory agencies as governed by company and contract requirements.
Set up, calibrate, and operate digital radiographic and liquid penetrant equipment.
Knowledgeable on viewing/evaluating and archiving requirements for digital radiographic images.
Thorough familiarity with the scope and limitations of the method.
Understand practical theory.
Be aware of the need for and the limitations of reference standards.
Be familiar with the type and location of expected defects for the manufacturing process.
Maintain, adjust, and make minor repairs to NDT equipment as required.
Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Train and guide Level 1 and trainee personnel as assigned by Level 3.
Must be able to pass regularly scheduled subject exams.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Must be able to train on 1st Shift for 6+ months and move to 2nd Shift once trained if necessary.
Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation of technical data and quality procedures required.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong computer skills in Word and Excel required.
Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or in absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
A minimum of 32 hours classroom training for Penetrant and 80 hours for Digital Radiography.
Objective evidence or letters of verification of previous NDT work experience and levels of responsibility.
SAP experience a plus.
Experience inspecting GTAW welds.
Some leadership experience a plus.
