We are seeking GNC subject matter experts to perform in the role of Senior Principal Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer at our Tucson, AZ location.
This position is an onsite role.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
As a Sr. Principal GNC Engineer, you are viewed as an expert within this discipline, having deep knowledge of theory and organizational practices.
You will support missile guidance tasks including guidance law development, state estimation, sensor fusion, trajectory shaping, and miss distance performance optimization.
You will participate in navigation tasks including system trade studies, component modeling of inertial measurement units (IMU), global positioning systems (GPS), as well as simulation of navigation algorithms, particularly Kalman filters.
You will work with embedded software including real-time GNC algorithm development for missiles system products.
You will support missile performance analysis including model development, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments with expected system disturbances.
You will solve problems that are complex, and often undefined, requiring extensive investigation to understand root cause.
You will be trusted to significantly improve existing process and practices as well as guide and mentor other engineers.
Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior guidance, navigation and/or controls engineering experience.
Experience including at least two of the following: digital and/or modern control systems, dynamics, Kalman filter design, Monte Carlo, or signal processing.
Experience with Matlab, C, C++, and/or Object Oriented design
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Advanced degree in STEM. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Current DoD clearance
Experience with Unix and/or Linux operating systems
Experience with missiles, gravity bombs, or autonomous / collaborative air vehicles
Ability to influence others to agree/accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and customers regarding matters of significant importance.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
