Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) a world leader in the state-of-the-art focal plane and camera products has an immediate opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer who can assume a leading role in the multi-disciplinary team within the Surveillance Networking Solutions (SNS), Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) Mission Area.
This new position is responsible for engineering technical, cost, and schedule execution of a portfolio of programs within the Tactical Product Line in the RVS Mission Area. The position is based in Goleta, CA.
You will join a team of engineers and scientists who are creating the industry’s most advanced visible, infrared, multispectral, hyperspectral, and LADAR sensors and camera solutions. Our cutting-edge products are used in a wide range of air, ground, and space applications, in both the commercial and defense markets.
The individual selected for the RVS Electronics and Software Center (ESC) Principal Software Engineer position will assume a leading role to support military and commercial programs through application of industry standard, and in-house tools and development processes. Additionally, will lead the design, development, integration, deployment, and support of RVS software.
Clearance Requirement: Must have an active Secret Security Clearance, US Citizenship required
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Experience leading software design and coding of test frameworks
Unit testing with Visual Studio or third-party tools
Software integration with firmware and test hardware
Software validation to customer specifications
Documentation of architectures, algorithms, and interfaces
Installation and deployment of automated test software
Functional verification testing
Troubleshooting and support of deployed applications
Accountability and tracking of cost/schedule and technical performance metrics
Mentoring and technical oversight of other engineers
Required Skills:
Minimum 10+ years of software development in C/C++, C#, JAVA, Python, or MATLAB
Experience as a technical lead, project lead or similar role
Interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management
Provide technical and functional support throughout the project lifecycle, including developing functional specification and technical design documents
Serve as the initial point of escalation for software development issues
Skills and experience displaying leadership
Coding to hardware interfaces
Experience troubleshooting with software and hardware oriented diagnostic tools (debugger, oscilloscope, WireShark)
Familiarity with a source code VCS (Git, SVN) and IDEs (Visual Studio, Eclipse)
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
