    We are looking for an EO/IR sensor payload Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Senior Principal Systems Engineer to be part of a growth-oriented organization. This role will work within a multi-discipline team (e.g. multi spectral image processing, mechanical design, electrical design) to design develop and debug multi spectral image processing algorithms and radiometric and other simulation models of differing fidelity which represent the elements of a system. This requires the ability to read, debug, edit and create computer programming code to enhance image processing algorithms, simulation models, creating and executing unit tests on the models to verify functionality, documenting the design and test results, and integrating with other models in a complex system simulation environment.

    This position is a full-time on-site position in El Segundo, CA.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Develop, execute and analyze simulations in a high-performance computing environment, which can include the use of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), to support electrooptical infrared (EO/IR) system design/trade studies, performance assessment, algorithm enhancements, algorithm validation and integrated system tests.

    Work within a team to develop analysis of the data for the specific task as well as provide insight and understanding of the system performance, recognizing, and troubleshooting any anomalies observed in the simulation results.

    Ensure the solutions provided meet their defined requirements and function as needed through rigorous verification and validation.  This activity utilizes data from a number of sources up to and including system level testing. 

    Assist with integrating high-fidelity radiometric simulations into federations managed by other US Government organizations.

    Please note:  We are not seeking engineers with an AutoCAD or 3-D modeling background or network modeling from an IT perspective.

    Required Skills:

    10+ years engineering experience

    Strong Physical Science/Engineering/Applied Math/Computer Science background

    Experience with digital image processing

    Experience with MATLAB for data analysis

    Experience programming in MATLAB, C, C++, Java, or Python

    Experience in modeling, simulation, statistics, or analysis

    Ability to work independently and manage one’s time and tasks.

    Ability to determine and develop rigorous analytical approaches to problem solving.

    Evidence of problem solving and time management skills

    Experience working with multi-disciplined teams.

    Active DOD Secret Clearance

    U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

    Desired Skills:

    Experience with object-oriented programming with proficiency in Windows and Linux

    Experience in adaptive signal and image processing and optimization

    Experience in radiometry, EM wave propagation phenomenology and modeling

    Experience with classification and machine learning techniques

    Knowledge of physics, random variables, and its application to solving engineering problems.

    Current/Active DoD security clearance or SSBI

    Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles

    Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

    May have deep knowledge of project management. Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and

    ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs

    or systems.

    Typically requires:

    A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years

    prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree

    in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited

    by local laws/regulations.

    The salary range for this role is 123,000 USD - 259,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
