Collins Aerospace, Aerostructures division, is looking for a Senior Project Engineer who will investigate and improve the performance and cost of metallic structures. You will be part of a team that is playing a critical role in developing new metallic fabrication techniques through our Chula Vista, CA facility and advancing acoustic technology for high temperature metallic structures in our San Marcos, TX facility. In addition, you will also need project management experience coupled with metals materials and process technology knowledge to help develop the next generation nacelle for commercial aircraft.

The position is working in a Hybrid capacity, a mix of onsite and working remote from home, at our Chula Vista CA facility. Relocation assistance is available.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supports the development of project plans, schedules and budgets, tracks progress, resolves problems, develops solutions, and forecasts project revenue.
• Writes SOW (Statement of Work), test plans, test reports
• Coordinates panel/part manufacturing with suppliers, testing at internal/external test houses
• Supports purchasing activities with requisitions (shopping carts) and invoice approvals
• Supports contracting activities with NDAs and IWAs
• Screens related technologies and suppliers
• Coordinates with other functional organizations (Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, Operations and Aftermarket)
• Identifies and addresses project problems, analyzes data gathered, and develops solutions and recommendations to solve problems, meet deadlines and optimize performance.
• Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
• Communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership
• Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable Intellectual Property processes and tools.
• Performs other duties as required

Basic Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and typically a minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and typically a minimum 3 years of experience
• Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
• Project Management experience with technical projects
• MS Project experience  

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace experience
• Agile software experience
• Continuous Improvement experience e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE
• ERP experience, SAP
• Aerospace experience with metallic materials, processing and testing
• Knowledge of aerospace applications of aluminum, titanium, and Inconel alloys.
• Knowledge of Collins Aerostructures products and processes will enhance the candidate’s ability to leverage daily work.

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
