Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to support the fabrication of advanced composite structures used on commercial and military platforms. The Quality Engineer will analyze engineering, manufacturing, and operations information and make the appropriate changes to quality and manufacturing processes, or documentation to solve problems, improve efficiency and part quality. The quality engineer will work alongside a multi-discipline team of engineers on a variety of tasks related to composite component manufacture. This is a quality production-oriented position operating in a manufacturing shop environment.
This position is 100% onsite in Riverside, CA
Primary Responsibilities
Take a lead role to identify Root Cause and Corrective Action for any escapes or turn-backs affecting production flow or the customer.
Work in a multifunctional quality and manufacturing engineering team
Create and manage control plans to ensure proper control of production methods.
Work in partnership with internal producer sites to implement and monitor proactive quality initiatives like Zero Defect Plan (ZDP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Mentor Associate Quality Engineers in Quality disciplines such as RRCA, control plan creation and maintenance, and PFMEA maintenance.
Utilize metrics to drive continuous improvement and show progress towards quality objectives.
Provides analysis and recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and/or design problems for internally produced products & processes
Interfaces with fellow quality and manufacturing engineers, structures design engineers, engineering management, operations, shop floor personnel, and external vendors.
Work with quality and manufacturing technical staff in cross-discipline technical initiatives involving design, quality, equipment, testing, Material Review Board (MRB) and Materials & Process engineers
Conducts and support AS9100, Nadcap, FAA, Collins QMS, and customer audit activities, to ensure compliance with requirements
Assist Program Quality on the preparation, review, and approval of specific quality documents, such as Quality Plans, Inspection Plans, Quality Test Procedures and Acceptance Test Procedures
Work with the Program Quality Engineers on the review of engineering requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback to operations.
Collaborate with Program on the development and implementation of action plans, for out of target metrics (i.e., SRR, DPUs, Customer Escapes, etc.).
Basic Qualifications
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
Familiarity with FAI
Hold a valid Quality certification through ASQ
Certification as an AS9100 auditor
Experience in customer facing Quality initiatives
Familiarity and application of PFMEA
Familiarity and application of PPAP
Supports the development and maintenance of inspection technologies or methodologies to assure product conformance

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
