    Job Summary:

    The Receiver Exciter and Back End Processing (REBEP) Department is the focal point for receiver, exciter, beam steering, and signal processing technology in the Radar and Missile Defense division.  The department is responsible for the design, development, integration, support to production builds, and lifecycle support of RMD products.

    We are currently seeking a Senior Radar Receiver Exciter RF Design Engineer to join the Radar Receiver Exciter and Back End Processing Integrated Product Team. This team designs, develops, integrates, and tests the Radar Receiver Exciter hardware for the combat proven Radar and Missile Defense Systems.

    The candidate will have experience designing RF and Microwave hardware, including transmitters, receivers, and exciters.  This role includes design and test activities that span preliminary design to integration.  Products we develop support radar applications on a variety of tactical radar programs.

    This position will be responsible for analysis, design, test, integration and troubleshooting of complex electronic hardware systems, beginning with requirements definition through the introduction of the design into manufacturing. This role is responsible with collaborating and coordinating with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines to proactively and efficiently resolve issues that may arise during production, testing, and integration.

    Responsibilities to Anticipate:

    • Requirements definition and flow from system to Receiver/Exciter level

    • Receiver and Exciter architecture development

    • Interface definition between Receiver/Exciter subsystem and other subsystems

    • Support of signal processing algorithm definition based on Receiver/Exciter capabilities and system needs.

    • Support system level radar integration planning, execution, and reporting

    • Resolve complex technical issues seen during design, integration, and test of Radar Receiver and Exciter sub-systems.

    • Process and analyze Radar Receiver/Exciter data, including but not limited to IQ Data, to identify and resolve system performance issues.

    • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.

    • Interface with customer with technical and program level status

    • Interface with suppliers for component and/or module level development

    Qualification You Must Have: 

    • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science or Arts in, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5+ years of relevant experience in computer or engineering OR a STEM Master's and 3+ years of relevant experience.

    • At least 2 years of experience with 2 of the following:

      • RF test and troubleshooting.

      • RF Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and fabrication.

      • Experience in simulation, integration, and/or analysis of complex RF systems and subsystems

    • At least two (2) years of experience with any of the following tools:

      • Mentor DX Designer or equivalent

      • High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) or equivalent.

      • SystemVue/Genesys or equivalent.

      • Advanced Design System (ADS) or equivalent

      • Matlab

    Qualifications We Value:

    • Experience translating system performance and operation specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.

    • Strong technical and interpersonal skills with desire to continuously learn and improve.

    • Ability to prepare documentation with minimal oversight,

    • Solid communication and teaming skills with a focus on collaboration

    • Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints.  Includes yield and margin analysis.

    • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.

    • Technical background in the following areas:

      • Cascade analysis and/or frequency planning

      • Filter design and fabrication

      • Circuit card assembly design and fabrication

      • High speed data converter test/characterization

      • Low Noise RF source design and test experience
