Sr. Software Engineer (Machine Learning)

We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Software Engineer (Machine Learning) to join the Raytheon Technologies’ Enterprise Data Services (EDX) AI/ML Products team. By working closely with data scientists, you will play an active role in helping to design and build ML tools and products applicable across the enterprise. Our ML Team builds tools used by data scientists that support vital segments of the company. Some projects include prediction of part failures on the industrial products we build (from jet engines to radar units to compressors used in space), projection of manufacturing demand, and assessment of population risk for airplane fleet management. This role requires solid experience in Python, and an ideal candidate will be well versed in scientific and mathematical libraries (SciPy, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn) along with an understanding of learning algorithms and the SDLC.

Responsibilities:

• Design, write and deploy well-crafted and well-tested Python in support of Machine Learning products and tools across the enterprise.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to build requirements for data science tool and optimization libraries.
• Work closely with Data Scientists on algorithm development and deployment of Machine Learning models in production.
• Monitor and maintain tools and models in production.
• Collaborate with Product and Business stakeholders on requirements and priorities.
• Work with QA and DevOps engineers to deploy high quality, well tested, resilient code.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Practice disciplined software engineering (e.g. automated testing, code reviews, and writing beautiful, pragmatic code).
• Actively contribute to team and company standards.
• Mentor junior and senior engineering team members.

Basic Qualifications:

• 7+ years’ experience software development in an object-oriented language (C++, C#, Java, Rust, Python, etc.), with at least 3 years’ experience with Python.

• A solid understanding of scientific python ecosystem (SciPy, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn).

• Experience in Agile, Git, application containerization, continuous integration/deployment.

• Experience in Machine Learning operations.

• Experience working with Data Science and machine learning models.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to well work in cross functional teams.

• Motivated self-starter with a strong enthusiasm to learn.

• Results-oriented with strong communication and customer focus.

• A constant learner, actively interested in updating skill sets and knowledge, following trends and papers in the Machine Learning community.

• U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years’ experience software development in an object-oriented language (C++, C#, Java, Rust, Python, etc.), with at least 3 years’ experience in Python.
• An understanding of learning algorithms and ML libraries like PyTorch and Tensorflow are a nice to have.
• Possesses a flexible attitude and is willing to work with a range of technologies and languages with an open mind and without bias.

Location:

This role is Remote.

Education:

• A University degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics is required.
• An Advanced degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics is preferred.

Typically requires:

• A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience.

Engineering/Other Technical Positions:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
