Position summary

At Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S), we aspire to be the most admired defense and aerospace systems supplier through world-class people and technology.

Raytheon designs, develops, produces and supports a vast array of electro-optical/infrared sensors, active electronically scanned array/scanning radars, and various integrated systems solutions to provide customers with actionable information for strike, persistent surveillance, and special mission applications.  These best-in-class systems perform detection, identification, tracking, targeting, navigation, weather, and situational awareness tasks from a variety of airborne platforms including maritime, littoral and overland patrol aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, and other tactical, attack and transport rotary and fixed wing aircraft.   

This position supports the Networked Information & Connectivity Solutions (NICS) product area within the Communications and Air Management Systems (CAMS) segment of Raytheon.  NICS provides secured processing platforms and capabilities to both domestic and international customers. This specific position will provide software development and support to new and existing programs within the mission area.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record developing and augmenting software solutions that meet technical requirements of the product while balancing system level concerns within program cost and schedule constraints.   The candidate will learn existing software product lines, support software requirements allocation and detailed software requirements definition, develop new and extend existing software designs, implement, and test software to meet program requirements.  The successful candidate must be able to collaborate and effectively communicate software approach, constraints, and design/implementation rationale to varied audiences including program leadership, multi-disciplined engineering teams, and software engineering peers.  Candidate must also be able to successfully implement, test and demonstrate software capabilities as part of formal qualification tests and customer support.     

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Linux O/S development experience to include software drivers, scripts, X-Windows and extensions
  • Advanced C and C++ programming experience
  • Demonstrated real-time embedded software development, systems integration, problem solving skills, and support for formal system/software validation.
  • Experience with product development utilizing standard software development processes
  • Ability to work across disciplines to deliver balanced approach to resolve technical issues
  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills. Ability to document and effectively communicate software approach, constraints, design and rationale to various audiences and multi-disciplined teams
  • Agile Scrum team development experience
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Ada interfaces
  • Embedded Built-In-Test (BIT) software development

Required Education:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. May have an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.

Relocation Eligible: Relocation assistance available provided final candidate meets eligibility requirements.
