Pratt & Whitney Hot Section Engineering Support to Operations (HSE ESTO) is seeking a self-motivated and detail-focused Senior Structures Engineer to join the Structures team supporting the production of commercial and military hot section rotating and airfoil components. The Senior Structures Engineer will serve as the structures discipline lead within interdisciplinary integrated product teams (IPT). This engineer is expected to execute structural assessments (Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS, NX Simcenter, Abaqus), Fracture Mechanics, LCF and HCF Life Cycle Prediction) and oversee day-to-day activities for production support, proactive producibility improvement tasks, supporting critical quality issues, supplier transitions, and design changes. Candidates will have the opportunity to build technical proficiency, decision-making ability, and gain exposure to a variety of components used in both commercial and military products.

Role classification is Hybrid. A minimum 2 days/week on-site presence in East Hartford, CT, USA is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for independent execution of quality non-conformance structural assessments of commercial & military hot section components using state-of-the-art ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, determination of low cycle fatigue life and residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction hand calculations, analytical tools, and engineering judgement.
• Provide support for production and engine deliveries as needed.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and drive timely execution by overseeing structural analyses to meet task and schedule requirements.
• Forecast resource planning for both Pratt & Whitney and outsource needs.
• Participate in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Develop on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable.
• Support proactive initiatives to improve producibility and reduce the cost of poor quality.
• Assist on technical development of peers.
• Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and support AS9100D effort.
• Travel up to 10%.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Engineering field and 5+ years of professional engineering experience, OR
• Advanced Degree in a related field and 3+ years of prior engineering experience.
• Fluent in English (verbal/written).
• US citizenship required due to government contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with finite element analysis software and programing languages. Examples include APDL, Workbench, ABAQUS, PATRAN / NASTRAN, MATLAB, VBA, Python, C++, Fortran, MS Office, NX Simcenter, NX Teamcenter and SAP.
• Demonstrated ability to independently execute and manage multiple tasks.
• Participation in process improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated success working effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience.
• Ability to propose innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
