Senior Systems Engineer – IMSE Product Systems

Role Description

The Integrated Mission Solutions Engineering (IMSE) Systems Engineering team is seeking a dynamic Senior Systems Engineer to support our IMSE Products Organization who has a well-rounded background in both systems engineering and project leadership supporting full product line lifecycle. The successful candidate will have a passion for innovation and the drive to see new technology and capability matured into fielded solutions. This role would take part in a team who is responsible for product line engineering tasks related to requirements definition, design, development, analysis, test and certification of next generation cryptographic security and mission computing products, maturing products from concept through accreditation and factory production.

Additionally, this position will also participate in portfolio pursuit and order capture opportunities, leveraging existing Collins Aerospace software and hardware product baselines and development of new technologies to contribute to and create winning program proposals.  

The successful candidate will be part of a distributed team composed of professionals from several disciplines and must have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal skills. This position may require occasional travel (up to 10%.). Position requires that candidate has a final US DoD security clearance, or ability to obtain a final security clearance (US Citizenship is required) to access classified information.

Job Responsibilities

  • Systems engineering experience to include; program pursuit and capture, architecture definition, design, requirements capture, integration, verification and validation, and life-cycle product support.
  • Leveraging our Systems Security Cyber subject matter experts, lead and coordinate the development of design artifacts that are required for the assessment and authorization of products in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
  • Utilize vulnerability scan, port scan, compliance, and network analysis tools (e.g. ACAS, Nessus, NMAP, and Wireshark) to conduct in-depth analysis of systems hardened against the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Demonstrated experience using tools such as JIRA, ALM, DOORS, Subversion, and PREP
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including; business development, program management, product-line engineers, hardware engineers, software engineers, and customers.
  • Leading and coordinating program level cost estimates during the bid and proposal cycle.
  • Leading and coordinating the development of technical proposals during the bid and proposal cycle.
  • Demonstrate ability to adapt decision-making style based on the situational circumstances.
  • Use personal experience and best practices to identify issues, potential problems, and risk.
  • Capable of estimating, tracking, and communicating cost, schedule, and risk in support of program earned value metrics.
  • Additional responsibilities and/or project work as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR 
    Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR 
    In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required 
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.  Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements 
  • Demonstrated pursuit and order capture experience

A successful candidate will either possess or have experience with:

  • Ability to perform the logical and systematic conversion of portfolio needs into system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo would be helpful but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing Risk Management Framework documentation (IA Assessment and Authorization documentation) and participating in program level risk assessments during the A&A processes
  • Demonstrated experience assessing system vulnerabilities, applying system hardening and verifying compliance with applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Demonstrated experience implementing embedded Cybersecurity Solutions, Security Authorization requirements, vulnerability assessments, threat mitigation, and emerging Cybersecurity technologies.
