    The Collins Aerospace Air Combat Test & Training (ACTT) engineering department is responsible for the design, analysis, test and certification of Air Combat Training systems. We solve the challenges of next-generation pilot proficiency training so they can “Train as they Fight”. We field Test and Training range systems with state-of-the-art technology in cryptography, datalinks, navigation, communication, networking, and command and control. We specialize in highly accurate, highly secure solutions for U.S. DoD and international coalition customers. We are a system of systems development team that designs, integrates, and supports some of the largest, most complex solutions offered by Collins Aerospace.

    Primary Responsibilities

    The Senior Systems Engineering Manager will lead a team of Systems Engineers focused on the expansion of our Air Combat Training system capabilities and customer base.

    In this role you will support the team in:

    • Performing all aspects of systems engineering design and development, including requirements capture, system design flow, system integration, system validation & verification, and support for certification and qualification.

    • In addition, this leader will be accountable for execution to scope, schedule, and budget of their projects.

    • The Systems team will also serve as the primary technical interface to the customer and internal business leadership.

    This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  A comprehensive relocation package is available for qualified candidates.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.

    • Must be a US Citizenship

    • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.  Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements. 

    • Experience leading a team in executing engineering development projects while adhering to a rigorous formal development process.

    • Experience bidding, planning, and managing project budget, schedule, and scope.

    • Experience creating collaborative team cultures that drive predictable program performance to consistently meet business and customer commitments.

    • Experience communicating effectively to a host of stakeholders across the technical spectrum, including customers, program management and senior leadership.

    *Signing bonuses available for active clearance holders.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in the following areas of systems engineering: requirement development, design, and integration and test

    • Experience developing in the Agile framework.

    • Experience in air combat and/or training concept of operations

    • Experience supporting business development and program management in creation of business cases and product roadmaps.

    • Experience in NSA certified developments

    • Experience as engineering bid lead on large, complex pursuits

    • Preferred applicants will currently hold a Secret (or above) security clearance or have held one within the past two years.
