    Position Role Type:

    Onsite

    Assist test team in building/assembling test fixtures and testing airplane closets, galleys and lavatories in a noisy, light industrial environment. This is a hands-on job that can occasionally be physically intense.  Long hours and tight schedules are normal.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Comfortable working with hand and power tools (grinders, saws, impacts, drills, etc)
    • Experience with fabrication work (mechanical: carpentry and/or metalworking)
    • General Assembly of Parts
    • Working with Manual Lathe, Manual Mill, Chop Saw/Table Saw/Band Saw, other woodworking and metalworking tools.
    • Experience with general machinery maintenance (changing saw blades, replacing belt sander paper, bench vice cleaning)
    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs minimum
    • Steel toed boots required
    • Comfortable with working on ladders, elevated platforms no higher than 20’ and comfortable with fall protection
    • Willing to wear basic PPE (mask, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, etc)
    • Willing to use basic solvents like acetone; may be working with paint and various glues; willing to handle lead shot and ingots with gloves

    Basic Qualifications:

    • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR
    • In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
    • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
    • Capable of following verbal instructions
    • Must be punctual, willing to work to a schedule, and capable of dealing with shifting priorities.
    • Be a team player; able to work independently
    • Be self-motivated
    • Be willing to occasionally work late and possibly weekends
    • Must be able to read technical drawings and build to those drawings

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with rigging and gantry crane
    • Experience with aerospace (specifically aerospace testing)
    • Experience with Labview
    • Experience doing static/abuse/cycle testing
    • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems
    • Experience with using torque wrenches, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment
    • Experience with using pallet jacks, working around forklifts, scissor lifts, bucket lifts, and other powered equipment
    • Experience using a personal computer to log hours and check email is a bonus.
    • The ability to write legibly is a bonus.
