Raytheon Mission Technologies is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to work to support products and customer programs in the Herndon, VA corporate office. This exciting work involves programming implementation of cloud computing technologies and virtual networking systems, as well as understanding complex networks and translating scalable systems. The individual will be a member of a small team who work closely together to devise creative solutions for challenging problems in a friendly, supportive environment.  The position is located in Herndon, VA.

Required Qualifications:

• 1-2+ years of industry experience in delivering high-quality, innovative applications and programming experience using one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, Python, C/C++, C#
• 1-2+ years of experience working in a Linux/UNIX development environment
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Google, Digital Ocean, Rackspace, etc.
• Experience with database technologies
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work well in a team environment as well as independently with little day-to-day guidance
• Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Desired Skills:

• Technical certifications, especially in Linux, Network, & Security concentrations
• Experience with continuous integration systems like Jenkins or Bamboo
• Experience in system/network engineering including, but not limited to: server administration, hardware and software based networking, automation, troubleshooting
• Strong and demonstrated technical skillsets including, but not limited to:
• Programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, NodeJS, EmberJS, AngularJS)
• RESTful API frameworks (DropWizard, Play!, Spark, SpringBoot)
• Software development tools (Mercurial, Git, JDK, IntelliJ, PyCharm, Gradle)
• Microservices frameworks & application development
• Hardware & Software-defined networking, (Cisco iOS, ACLs, Firewalls, SSL & IPSEC VPNs, routing)
• Linux-based application design, hardening, deployment, and administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Encryption techniques (PKI, TLS, VPNs, PGP)

Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field.  Equivalent experience considered in lieu of education.

Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through University Degree combined with experience. Practical knowledge of RTX projects, programs

or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.

Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.

Engineering/Other Technical Positions:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior

relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
