Software Engineer I (Hybrid)

RIS is seeking Software Engineers who have the technical and communication skills needed to support our ongoing and emerging domestic and international Air Traffic Systems (ATS), Next Generation (NexGen) weather data processing, and drone tracking phased array radar programs. Our dynamic and diverse software engineers develop demanding, trusted, and superior solutions to make worldwide air travel safe and event free.  As an RIS Software Engineering you are welcomed into collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product team, employing agile software development techniques and tools to plan, design, develop, test, and integrate complex software and systems solutions.  You will support agile life cycle engineering activities for our domestic and international customers. The successful candidates must be able to communicate well, be professional, be a self-starter, have a positive attitude, and possess an inquisitive nature.

Required Experience/Skills:

• Software development experience working with teams with common project goals (i.e. academic project experience, internship(s), co-op, or other collaborative work experience)

• Fundamental engineering skills

• Course work in software engineering and computer science

• Programming skills in C, C++, Java/J2EE, and/or Javascript

• Proficiency in Windows, Unix, and/or Linux environments

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

• Good oral, written, and presentation communication skills

• This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)

Other Requirements:

• This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements.  

• Must be a US Citizen as candidate will need to have ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Experience/Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and learning team environment using Agile methods and tools

• Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and Test Driven Development (TDD) Methodologies

• Course work or experience in modern application architectures and/or methodologies

• Course work or experience in requirements analysis, development, traceability and verification

• Course work or experience in Technical Writing

• Course work or experience requiring formal presentations to peer groups

Required Education:

A Bachelors degree with a STEM technical degree in the area of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Physics or other related STEM field by summer 2022.  A cumulative GPA of 3.0+ is strongly desired.
