Position Overview:

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineering Co-op, for our Air Transport and Business and Regional Avionics Platform Software team located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This organization is responsible for developing and supporting real-time embedded software for numerous processing platforms used in our commercial airline avionics products and cockpit display systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineering Co-op at Collins Aerospace you will support the development of flight critical embedded software for commercial aviation applications. The platform software team develops and maintains low level functions, such as boot, kernel, device drivers, libraries, and data input/output routing applications. You will be a member of the engineering team responsible for the design, development, verification, and certification of real-time embedded software. The Software Engineering Co-op shall be responsible for requirements, software code, analysis, and verification testing. The candidate will get hands-on experience in the engineering lab and work with a team of engineers all working toward the same goal of delivering a high-quality software product on time.

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • C / C++ programming experience, Python Experience

  • Experience with Real Time Operating Systems

  • Experience in writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support.

  • Defense or Aerospace industry experience is preferred.

  • Strong contributor to a positive work environment that focuses on solutions

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
