Job Description:
The Aero Thermal Fluids (ATF) discipline is responsible for the functional aero, fluids and thermal design, analysis and performance evaluation of Pratt & Whitney propulsion systems for commercial and military aircraft engines. We are seeking engineers with expertise within an ATF discipline who are highly motivated and possess strong technical, problem solving, communication and leadership skills to join our team and be part of continuing Pratt & Whitney's industry leadership in current and next generation propulsion systems.
Responsibilities include:
Aero, fluid, thermal design and analysis as part of a multi-disciplinary teams responsible for the design, test, validation and delivery of state-of-the-art propulsion systems and technologies.
Work with internal and external customers to achieve program goals on time and within budget.
Technical aspects of the work may include fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, turbomachinery performance, combustion, secondary flow, heat transfer, durability, oil and lube systems, performance integration, acoustics, aeromechanics and combustion dynamics. Typical tasks include conceptual design studies, product development, rig testing, engine testing, and technology development. Additional responsibilities may include proposal development, technology planning, and airframe integration.
Role Type: This position is working Onsite at one of Pratt & Whitney’s facilities: East Hartford, CT, Middletown, CT, North Berwick, ME, or West Palm Beach, FL.
Travel up to 10%.
Basic Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or related fields.
5+ years experience applying aero thermal fluids engineering skills or 3+ years of experience with an advance degree
US Citizenship required due to government contracts.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
An active US Government Security Clearance at a Secret Level or Higher.
Experience in the gas turbine industry in an ATF related discipline.
Demonstrated strong problem-solving and teamwork skills, excellent communication skills, and leadership experience.
