    Job Description:

    Pratt & Whitney Auxiliary Power Units (APU) Engineering in Aguadilla Puerto Rico is seeking a goal oriented, detail-focused Design Engineer.  In this role you will be involved with various production support and design activities related to military and commercial hardware Radial Auxiliary Power Unit and small Turbojet (TJ) programs. Focus includes the entire product life cycle, from new propulsion system development, through engine manufacture, to technical support of fielded products.

    Responsibilities:

    • Analysis and disposition of quality non-conformances (QNs) for new parts.

    • Support supply chain activities by responding to Electronic Supplier Requests for Information (eSRI).

    • Develop Class II or Class I engineering change packages to improve quality, cost and producibility metrics.

    • Participate as a design discipline lead in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.

    • Perform Computer Aid Design (CAD) geometry software functions to manipulate and create 2D geometries, 3D models and 3D assemblies to meet fit, form and functions requirements of parts and support engineering documentation.

    • Interpret and define tolerances and features in part drawings.

    • Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy.

    • Prepare and present status and technical content to Program Chief Engineers, APU management, Customers and Suppliers.

    • Producibility improvement investigations.

    • Lead corrective action activities that drive cost reduction.

    • Develop and sustain a healthy work relationship based on mutual trust with peers, internal and external customers where significant interaction is expected.

    • Good communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.

    • Up to 10% travel.

    • Work schedule: Hybrid, working alternately in-office and remotely.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

    • 5+ years of relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3+ years of experience.

    • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Person Status required for government contracts.

    • English fluency (verbal and written).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in the Aerospace Industry, Auxiliary Power Units and Jet Engines would be highly desirable.

    • Previous Gas Turbine Compressor experience.

    • Experience with software and programming languages, proficient with MS Office, MS Excel, NX, Teamcenter and SAP.

    • The ability to craft clear communication and build positive relationships.

    • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.

    • Team oriented and cultural awareness.

    • Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the interactions of complex assemblies and how to translate those interactions into sound analytical assumptions.
