Immediate opportunity available in the Portland, Oregon metro area for a talented, motivated Senior Systems Engineer in a group responsible for the design, development, and verification of a variety of products including Enhanced Vision Systems, Head-Up Guidance Systems, Helmet Mounted Display Systems, and other innovative new display related technologies for both Commercial and Military applications. With an emphasis on product quality, we are developing systems which bring improved value to the flight deck through enhanced situational awareness, lower operating minima, and added safety benefits. From being the Head-Up Display provider for the Boeing Dreamliner to the Helmet Mounted Display provider for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Collins continues to build trust every day.
The selected candidate will immediately begin work supporting solutions for our military customers.
Our Systems Engineering team is responsible for overall head-up guidance and helmet display system definition, including the definition of interfaces with aircraft, the definition of desired HGS functionality, the verification and validation of the correct implementation of these defined characteristics, as well as LRU system definition and qualification. The Senior Systems Engineer will typically work under the direction of a Lead Systems Engineer on one or more development programs and will initially be involved in the preparation of sub system requirements, system-level verification procedures, and the execution of those procedures. In addition, you may be responsible for working with various subcontract suppliers to bring your sub systems to fruition.
Primary Responsibilities:
Developing system level and sub system level requirements
Providing conceptual designs to foster decomposition of the system requirements into lower level requirements; working collaboratively with a hardware and software engineering design teams to develop functions into their design states
Developing system integration cases and procedures to be executed on system integration test stations, customer simulators, and on flight test vehicles
Developing system verification cases and procedures to verify all system and safety requirements
Execution of system-level test procedures and full disposition of anomalies
Identification of system-level requirements and preparation of system specifications, system descriptions, wiring diagrams, interface control documents, software & hardware requirement documentation.
Preparation of system functional test procedures and creation of traceability from system functional requirements; providing inputs into development of standard test procedure format and test coverage analysis.
Execution of system-level test procedures and identification of anomalies in test procedures, test equipment operation and system under test operations
Individual will support multiple system engineering processes including: requirements capture, system level design trades; design reviews; internal and external interface requirements development
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 plus years of experience
Must have experience developing systems requirements/system design.
Experience writing verification procedures
Hardware development experience
Hands-on system integration and test experience
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Avionics experience
Aircraft display systems experience such as head down, Head up or Helmet Mounted
Electro-optical systems ie camera sensor systems
