Key Responsibilities:
Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specifications for requirements and cost.
Provide analytical support through all design phase, production manufacturing and field support services
Lead design engineer for engineering changes that lead to new hardware design, testing and production
Lead design engineer for investigation of engine field incidents leading to root cause and corrective action
Lead engineer in the development of serviceable and repairable limits for engine part wear
Leads producibility improvement investigations at various vendors.
Perform engineering first piece reviews remotely and at vendor locations.
Leads the creation of safety risk analysis and develop risk mitigation plans.
Present and communicate results to customers and program management
Analysis and disposition of quality non-conformances (QNs) for new parts, and supplier requests for information (SRI’s)
Participate as a design discipline lead in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy
Ability to write clear documentation, as well as to create and provide impactful, persuasive technical presentations to IPT, CIPT and customers
Develop and sustain a healthy work relationship based on mutual trust with pears, internal and external customers where significant interaction is expected
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
5+ years of prior relevant experience.
English fluency (verbal and written)
US Citizenship due to government contracts
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with NX and ANSYS.
Experience in Teamcenter or other PLM systems.
Prior aerospace job experience.
Experience with ASME Y14.5 specification.
Understand technical processes and design requirements of multiple gas turbine hardware (internal, external, static, or rotating hardware).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Prior gas turbine experience and strong aptitude working in a virtual 3D environment.
Ability to solve technical problems with minimal direction.
Learn and apply sophisticated solid modeling and analysis tools in a highly proficient manner
Experience collaborating with defense industry, airframers or airliners resolving technical issues.
Familiarized with AS9100 or other Quality Management System standards.
