    The Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD), the Quality and Mission Assurance (QMA) Operations Quality organization assures that compliant products are delivered to the customer with exceptional performance and will work reliably throughout the product life cycle. Our goal is to establish, maintain and oversee compliance to Quality and Mission Assurance policies and practices which are aligned across RMD.

    We are seeking a Sr Hardware Quality Engineer with hands-on hardware quality experience to become a key part of Operations Quality. Here at Raytheon Missiles & Defense, our Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.

    As Sr Hardware Quality Engineer embedded within a Production Value Stream, you’ll be a high-value participant on cross-functional teams, bringing Quality Science skills and expertise to drive issue resolution.

    Responsibilities to Anticipate:

    Provide production floor support and resolution to address process and compliance issues.

    Facilitate corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods to improve product/process predictability and capability.

    Integrate product and process verifications such as First Articles and audits throughout value stream processes to prevent quality escapes, optimize throughput and assure on-time delivery of products and services.

    Assure clear identification, physical control, and respective disposition of nonconformities.

    Defect prevention through data analysis and effective execution of Root Cause Analysis and associated Corrective Action Implementation

    Qualifications you must have:

    • Bachelor’s degree (in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in quality/manufacturing engineering
    • Prior experience with Quality systems, to include ISO 9001, AS9100 and AS9102 
    • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
    • Previous experience managing cross functional process improvement teams with technical expertise.
    • Experience with industry technical standards  
    • Experience identifying root cause and initiate/implement effective short-term and long-term corrective actions.
    • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics that may be used to drive true root cause and long-term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications.
    • Experience interpreting drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control.

    Qualifications We Value: 

    • Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques. 
    • Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications
    • Experience with Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) or another continuous improvement program; Utilizing tools such as 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Process Mapping/Analysis, Lean Six Sigma (6Sigma)
    • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)/AS9145; Utilizing tools such as PPAP, Key Characteristics, DFMEA, PFMEA and/or Control Plans
    • Experience with SAP/PRISM or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Tool
    • Previous experience with circuit card assembly processes
    • Existing US DoD Secret (or higher) clearance
