The Avionics Traffic Surveillance FPGA Team is seeking a Lead FPGA Engineer (Senior) to join our team to support the CNS (Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance) Traffic Department. Collins Aerospace designs, integrates, and certifies multiple commercial avionics products for the Air Transport and Business and Regional aircraft markets. Traffic products include Transponder and Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS). In this role, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and leading to the completion of projects related to the FPGA developments for traffic surveillance products that includes new product developments and/or legacy products. We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations. The successful candidate will manage development projects to ensure technical performance commitments are met within budget and schedule, working closely with peer engineers, program management, and customers. They are the point of contact for engineering responsible for the project management of design and development activities. This person may also lead customer-focused activities including bids, proposals, and technical presentations. This role is located ONSITE/HYBRID in Melbourne, FL with relocation available.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as Lead for a team of engineers for FPGA programs to ensure internal and customer commitments are met
Provide project management direction during all program phases including bidding, planning, and execution
Track and report cost and schedule status
Ensure compliance with Program and Product requirements as reflected in design plans
Lead a wide range of entry-level to highly experienced engineers
Present FPGA for FAA SOI Audits per DO-254
Track and report Earned Value metrics to Engineering Leadership
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Experience managing technical projects including schedule and Earned Value management, risk management, customer interaction, and briefing leadership
Strong communicator, able to interface within the wide spectrum of individual contributors to program management
Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively document and present one’s work and status
Development skills with FPGA Design and Verification in an avionics development environment
Preferred:
Experience with DO-254 development and verification process
Experience with RTL coding in VHDL/Verilog
Prior engineering experience developing Avionics products with an understanding of product life cycle.
Experience with Cost Account Management in an Earned Value system
