    We are currently looking for a Sr Supervisor- Avionics Engineering Technical Services to lead a diverse and talented group of individuals who are responsible for technical support to Avionics engineering.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Manages a team of primarily experienced professionals that provide Technical Support to Avionics Engineering, with flexibility to determine how assignments are completed (e.g., objectives and approaches to completing work). Sets goals and objectives for team members. Problems faced may be difficult, but typically are not complex. Explains policies, practices, and procedures.
    • Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team, with direct impact on the immediate or short-term operational results of the work area. Typically, does not have budget or P&L accountability, but may manage day-to-day elements of the budget (e.g., overtime for staff).
    • Collaborate with other departments and organizations in order to maximize efficiencies with engineering lab space and design
    • Multi-task with a variety of engineering teams and programs. Utilize critical thinking skills to identify resources to support multiple programs.
    • Problems and issues faced are general and may require understanding of broader set of issues but are not usually complex. Problems typically involve consideration of a single site, geography, product or customer. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences, with some logical analysis of the issue.
    • Communicates with parties within and outside of own department, which may include engineering leadership and value stream leadership. Explains policies, practices and procedures of the work area to others within the organization. May work to justify and gain cooperation of other parties on practices, policies and procedures.
    • Provides primary input to hiring, promotion, performance decisions for direct reports.
    • Leads, directs and reviews the work of team members in order to accomplish operational plans and results.
    • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution. Typically requires specialized knowledge of technical or operational practices.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR  
    • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR 
    • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required 
    • Must have prior experience is a customer/project support role
    • Demonstrated experience in a leadership (either formal or informal capacity) role
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Critical thinking ability
    • Must be available for occasional travel to other Collins sites domestically

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with electrical/mechanical drawings
    • Project Management
