    Collins Aerospace is currently seeking motivated candidates for Senior Systems Engineering positions to support airborne platforms and ground-based systems across multiple programs. This opportunity requires individuals who can perform key system lifecycle development activities, including analysis, planning and requirements, system design, integration and systems testing, and verification/validation of mission systems. Candidates should be self-motivated and willing to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a dynamic and growing development team.

    The candidate must have a demonstrated understanding of the systems engineering development process and will potentially lead or participate in all phases of the process to develop our next generation of communication products. 

    Key phases of the process include: 

    • System and subsystem requirements analysis, definition, and validation 
    • Systems and subsystems integration and requirements verification testing
    • Effective technical collaboration among systems, hardware and software design functions; 
    • Leading and resolving technical problems that cross functional domain areas of hardware and software and developing systems related documentation.

    Primary Responsibilities: 

    • System requirements capture, design, decomposition, and traceability.
    • Develop and verify test procedures at the system and sub-system levels
    • Demonstrated ability to plan project level work and meet schedule, cost, and performance goals.
    • Ability to effectively manage program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects.
    • Ability to effectively interact with Engineering Management and team developers, Program Management, Business Development, and Finance.
    • Understanding of manufacturing build, test, quality and customer acceptance review processes. 
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Represent company for system engineering at internal and external customer meetings. 
    • Serve as liaison between functional discipline groups and internal and external customers.
    • Ability to travel occasionally to domestic and international locations.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Must have an active US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with project scheduling and strategic planning 
    • Experience with communicating to external customers
    • Experience with earned value management 
    • Experience with Agile development methodologies 
    • Experience with tools such as DOORS, MATLAB, C++, and Python 
    • Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (CAMEO) for developing architectures and functional analysis
    • Ability to learn program pursuit and capture (concept development, writing and costing)
    • Familiarity with military concepts of operations
    • Acquainted with radio performance standards (military, commercial, FAA)
    • User of systems engineering tools for requirements capture, behavioral modeling/simulation (e.g. UML modeling with use-cases and sequence diagrams), peer reviews, configuration and change management
