Sustaining Engineering Manager will be responsible for several design engineering responsibilities within production support.

This position is in Rome, NY.   The work associated with this position will be onsite.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible supplying resource(s) for design engineering support of real time problem resolution on the shop floor
• Responsible for supplying resource(s) for design engineer for the Quality Clinic and maintaining a <1day TAT for design engineering dispositions.
• Writing and ensuring completion of engineering changes for platforms that are in production.
• Supporting LRIP and transition from design and development phase into production phase.
• Supporting re-invigoration of products that have not been produced regularly.
• Guides and directs the preparation of products past the design and development stage
• Reviewing designs, drawings, and working plans to improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
•  Provides technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.
• Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations.
• Develops data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
• Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.

Qualifications/Experience Needed: 

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience 
• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

• 13 years of experience
• Managing direct reports
