Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) is seeking a forward thinking, fast paced, committed, and experienced IT professional to join the team at ORD Airport in Chicago, Illinois. Job duties include working with airport partners and vendors, interfacing with the various customers and stakeholders, airport common use systems administration, and overseeing the operation. The Systems Administrator will assist the team in providing L1 and L2 on-site support of servers, systems, computers, peripherals, and associated networks in a fact-to-face customer environment.
The system components and technologies in these high-availability production environments include VMware virtual servers, Windows Server and Client Operating Systems, Active Directory, Linux based Operating Systems, Cisco networking, Microsoft SQL, MongoDB and PostgreSQL, real-time applications (i.e., industry-specific third-party vendor applications), AWS Cloud, COTS products, and a variety of other technologies and tools.
Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide consultation and advice to system and network administration in the Common Use platform in the airport.
Review technical and customer support specifications and provide recommendations on best value to meet customer requirements.
Maintain regular progress communication with the Airport Authority and take any remedial action for deficiencies.
Serve as customer liaison with a variety of airlines and the Airport Authority, assure continual compliance and report of service level performance and ensuring local procedures are in compliance.
Assist and maintain on-site employee relations including, but not limited to, scheduling, day-off planning, hiring, performance management, disciplining, promoting and dismissal.
Interface with senior management to communicate status of projects.
Provide continued growth, mentor and career track for staff using Performance Management planning.
Develop on-site policies and procedures.
Is responsible for overall local hardware maintenance and system support.
Is responsible for the site team of technicians and for necessary escalation of service issues.
Ensures support activities are coordinated with the customer and management.
Ensures that all site technicians are trained to the required levels.
Is responsible for monitoring staffing levels and participates in selecting technicians (with the assistance of the Human Resources).
May delegate some of these duties to Senior Technicians to ensure the smooth operation of the site.
Minimum Qualifications:
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
Two (2) or more years of experience with Windows Server and Client Operating Systems and associated technologies.
Experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
Experience with Windows Server 2008 through current enterprise server technologies and implementations, network troubleshooting and VMware.
Experience with virtualization, scripting, high availability technologies, backup strategies, and general troubleshooting.
Experience with cloud and virtual technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience in the Airport or Airline Industry Technical Field, 1 year of which are specific to CUTE equipment application software.
A background in system administration and problem solving is desired.
Experience with server-based enterprise COTS products and software.
Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and related technologies.
Experience with Linux based operating systems (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu).
Experience with local area switching, routing, Firewalls, and VPN connectivity.
ITIL v4 foundation certification desired.
Proficient in MS Office
