Position summary

We are seeking experienced Linux Engineers to join our Engineering team. The qualified candidate will support the design, development, Integration and maintenance of our modern VMware solutions. These environments: a mix of servers, workstations, storage, networks, and custom hardware, provide the enterprise hybrid-cloud backbone for product development and testing for a large Project producing a critical, strategic national asset. This will include a mixture of hands-on keyboard engineering work as well as documentation and baseline control.

Responsibilities may include the design and implementation of VMWare based tools and products such as: vSphere, VCenter, Horizon View, modern storage methodologies such as VVols, to name a few and troubleshoot issues discovered within the environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have an engineering mindset, and be able to troubleshoot complex problems, seeking to understand virtualized design elements in a dynamic environment.

NOTE: This position will reside at the factory location in Aurora CO to support design test and selloff. Additionally, some support will be required for the delivery and installation activities at the customer facility at the Boulder Colorado, requiring some limited (local) travel.

Clearance Requirement: US Citizenship and a Current Active TS/SCI Clearance

Specialized Skills:

  • Linux System Administrator.

  • Experience in Ansible or Chef of Puppet.

  • VMware admin experience (including vCenter).

Required Skills:

  • Needs to have experience troubleshooting complex systems involving multiple servers, COTS products, VMs, VDIs, and/or network issues.

  • Experience with VCenter.

  • Experience with Network engineering technologies and as a network administrator.

  • Design and deploy a vSphere distributed infrastructure for an enterprise Design.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex configuration problems or system issues.

  • Knowledge of scripting skills (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash, etc.).

  • Security Plus or CISSP within 90 days.

Desired Skills:

  • Use vSphere PowerCLI to manage virtual machines / virtual infrastructure.

  • Experience with monitoring / optimizing performance of virtualized environments.

  • Understand and apply enterprise design principles.

  • Cloud Management and Automation (VCP6-CMA) VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) – Nice-to-have VMWare vCenter 6 VMWare Horizon 7.

  • Experience with VMWare Integrated OpenStack (VIO), preferably in migrating to VIO from other (preferably AWS) virtualization solutions.

  • Infrastructure Components (e.g. Symantec Endpoint Protection, WSUS, RHEL Satellite, VMWare Update Mgr, SolarWinds).

  • VMware Certified Professional, Data Center Virtualization 6 (VCP6-DCV) Certification.

  • 3PAR storage experience is a plus.

  • Current Security + or CISSP certification.

Education:
Typically requires a degree and 5 years of related work experience. Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) preferred.

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $70,000 to $150,000 however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training and key skills.
