Job Summary
Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) Digital Technology (DT) seeks a Cloud and Datacenters Technical Lead for the Cloud and Core Infrastructure Services department. This position will report to the Director of Cloud and Core Infrastructure as the senior technical advisor for the cloud and datacenter disciplines. You will serve as the RMD lead architect on XetaCloud, Raytheon’s new enterprise cloud environment on Amazon Web Services and Azure and be responsible for complex coordination and technical review with 3 other business units and enterprise stakeholders to make highly visible decisions on behalf of RMD. This is a hands-on position that requires your development and integration skills for the design and build of new and emerging cloud capabilities and it is expected that your technical cloud skills will be among the top 5 in RMD within one year.
You will work closely with section managers and engineers for Commercial Cloud, Private Cloud, Datacenters, Networking, and Engineering Infrastructure Solutions on their most challenging technical initiatives and serve as a technical advisor and mentor to employees throughout the department. You are expected to have a broad network across multiple IT disciplines, and expand your Raytheon network across businesses, programs, and disciplines. You will be responsible for sponsoring development activities to create reference architectures, automation, and a trained team of cloud and datacenter specialists. You should be an individual who thrives on indirect leadership, inspiring and influencing people across many departments to collaborate and achieve the best technical and business results possible.
The position includes being the lead architect for our program cloud environments, which are being transitioned to XetaCloud beginning in Q3 2022. The position will require you to work with program and capture management to understand core DT requirements for our development environments, and work to translate those needs into actionable Cloud based solutions.
Responsibilities to Anticipate (But not limited to):
Technical lead for cloud computing and data centers for Raytheon Missiles and Defense
Engage with program and capture leadership at every level, selling the benefits of Cloud Solutions, as well as defining specific capabilities for program implementations
Work closely with other cloud, datacenter, and program IT teams, including Cloud Operations and DevOps teams, to define a common approach to Cloud technologies for RMD.
Identify and engage appropriate technical and business resources across the enterprise on standardized Raytheon Cloud offerings and tailors them for consistent, predictable deployment to RMD programs.
Function as a Subject Matter Expert on Cloud and Datacenter technologies, creating a roadmap for platforms for program execution
Evaluate and recommend new technologies to help support programs, reducing operating costs and improving service delivery time
Identify and describe how business value can be obtained through the implementation of technology, as well as how value has been captured post-deployment
Develop key reference architectures and designs for Cloud and Datacenter implementations
Work closely with embedded program Systems Administrators to understand existing server infrastructures and practices and developing cloud-based replacements
Develop business case justifications for Cloud services, and presenting this information to program management, along with bid metrics for customer proposals.
This position will be a remote work arrangement, with domestic travel required about 10% of the time per month as business needs warrant. The team is based in Andover, MA but some infrequent travel may be required to other Raytheon Technologies sites will be required to satisfy business need.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of technical work experience in engineering or IT.
The ability to obtain and maintain a US DOD security clearance. Except in rare cases, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. US Secret Clearance from the DOD will be needed within one year of start date.
Experience effectively leading people and teams whether directly as a manager or indirectly as a project manager or architect
Strong communication skills and ability to distill complex technical issues into options for whose costs and impact are clear to DT and business executives
Strong skills to foster teamwork to work cooperatively with Program and DT teammates
Deep knowledge of Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, etc., and a proven ability to quickly learn and deploy new technologies
Experience deploying modern technology in customized IT environments without expected centralized infrastructure.
Knowledge of networking concepts, especially WAN and VPN technologies
Experience with infrastructure automation (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Ansible)
Experience creating technical documentation, such as technical implementation guides
Familiarity with IaaS, PaaS and SaaS models and trade studies
