Position summary

We are looking for a person to drive leading edge manufacturing projects for our Mechanical Operations Modernization team.  A successful candidate will contribute to the overall success of the organization by providing the insight and project leadership to multiple manufacturing technology projects.  The Project Manager ensures that each project is completed in a timely manner, within budget, and meets all technical and financial standards, regulatory compliance requirements, Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) and customer expectations.

This individual will need to be located near a Collins Aerospace domestic location. This person will work a hybrid role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide project management direction and support to those in the Operations Modernization Advanced Mfg. Technology teams.

  • Develop plans and coordinate activities associated with implementation of projects within assigned schedules and budgets supporting the Collins Technology Roadmaps.

  • Prepare and present periodic project status updates to key stakeholders and senior leadership.

  • Utilization of Collins Aerospace quality tools (CORE) to foster robust project status and communications to key stakeholders

  • Drive accountability and ownership of the allocated projects to determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for team members required for specific projects or initiatives.

  • Develop and implement detailed Project Plans, Test Plans, Resource Plans, and other project documentation as specifically required for each project.

  • Apply project management skills and techniques, e.g., team leading, multi-tasking and financial awareness to deliver high quality projects.

  • Assign and oversee the daily tasks of technical personnel while ensuring all team members are actively working toward established milestones.

  • Provide input for technology, costing, and resource estimates for Capital Expenditures.

  • Maintain project documentation in accordance with MRL risk assessments and department Goal Alignments.

  • Hold / participate in regular business stakeholder meetings and update on project statuses to both internal management and Business Unit customers. 

  • Manage the completed project handover to our business unit customers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience or Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience. In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Must be willing and able to travel 10% of the time

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, and Teams)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in an engineering or business discipline with 2 to 5+ years’ experience

  • Experience, inclusive of Manufacturing Engineering with a desire to lead and support projects related to: Robotics / Automation / Optical technology /Metrology/Machining/Special Processes

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, systems, and disciplines
