Collins Aerospace is looking for an Actuation Systems, Test Equipment Engineer to join on our team in Rockford, IL! The team designs and maintains turnkey test solutions for Actuation electrical components, mechanical components, and integrated systems from development through production test. The team leverages a modular test equipment approach to create innovative test solutions, expediting development and verification cycle times. This role will be Onsite, relocation assistance provided.

Primary Responsibilities

• Architect, prototype, integrate, and validate Actuation hardware and software test equipment
• Design high-level and detailed-level mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic test solutions in CAD
• Perform solid mechanics, heat, mass, and fluid mechanics calculations; verify validity of designs and calculations using FEA, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analyses
• Establish clear, concise test plans, and control test plan execution with the focus on test time reduction and simplicity to promptly release equipment
• Host and actively contribute to design review meetings
• Interact with design, manufacturing, and sustaining teams to ensure seamless integration of test equipment
• Establish great working relationships with vendors and manage their deliverables
• Work with test personnel to build prototypes, install new systems, and execute tests on existing tests stations
• Perform Root Cause Analysis on equipment and test article failures
• Commission and debug new test equipment
• Provide operational documentation for new equipment

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience
•  or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
•  or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of hydraulic and high voltage power electronic systems
• Experience with LabVIEW, CAD design( NX or equivalent) EtherCat, SCPI, Modbus and CAN software and National Instruments Hardware preferred.
• Experience with test automation and data analysis in Python
• Previous experience in Equipment/Machine Design, Manufacturing, or Testing engineering
• Knowledge of various part fabrication techniques (machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, etching, injection molding, 3D printing, hydroforming)
• Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production desired
