    Collins Aerospace is seeking a Test Lab Operator to operate test machinery and equipment to test wheel and brake assemblies, wheel and brake components and other

    parts.

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Handle hazardous waste generated in department and place waste into containers in accordance with hazardous waste management rules.
    • Receive job assignments and instructions from Test Supervisors and Project Engineers.
    • Read and interpret test requests and assembly blueprints. Contact supervisor and/or engineer for clarification.
    • Assist and/or contact Data Control Room to complete assigned tasks.
    • Retrieve and assemble test hardware and take required weights and measurements.
    • Install thermo-couples, accelerometers, linear transducers, pressure cells, pressure gauges and other gauges as required.
    • Plumb hydraulics and connect electrical test hardware and equipment as necessary.
    • Set up test equipment.
    • Set up and program on-site/mobile data acquisition systems, and machine controls.
    • Record test results in a clean and legible manner and verify accuracy of test methods and data.
    • Decide when adjustments are necessary to ensure required test results and notify project engineer and/or supervisor of any abnormal conditions of test hardware or test equipment.
    • Disassemble test set-ups.
    • Disassemble test hardware, disposition and store as required in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
    • Calibrate torque cells, load cells, pressure cells, pressure gauges, linear transducers and torque wrenches and other tools as required.
    • Train Test Lab Operator trainees as required.
    • Store tools, equipment and hardware in proper places when not in use.
    • Maintain work area and machinery in a clean, safe and orderly manner; including sweeping, cleaning of assigned cells and cleanup of small spills. Arrange material to facilitate access and make best use of available space.
    • Operate tow-motor or hand truck to accomplish movement of materials, including nitrogen, in support of testing.
    • Perform routine operator preventative maintenance on equipment and record completions.
    • Attend training and department meetings.
    • Oil machines as needed utilizing appropriate tools.
    • Retrieve items from tool crib and complete forms/transactions as required.
    • This role is part of the UAW and will require membership

    Basic Qualifications:

    • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
    • Capable of performing mathematical calculations requiring addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averaging, and conversion (fraction to decimal, ft/min to ft/sec, etc.).
    • Oral and written comprehension and understanding of technical documents including but not limited to test requests, blueprints, Engineering process specifications and written work instructions.
    • Successful completion of "Test Lab Operator" examination.

    Physical requirements:

    • Wearing of all personal protective equipment as required.
    • In addition to the items subsumed in the job duties above, it should be noted that this position requires substantial reaching and moving while standing; lifting, up to 50 lbs.; twisting; stooping; and response to sounds associated to the work environment.

    EHS Requirements:

    • Adherence to all EH&S roles and responsibilities as stated in manufacturing work instructions and EHS policies and procedures is required.

    • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
