Responsibilities to Anticipate:

• Works from blueprints, sketches, engineering orders, planning sheets and written or verbal instructions, maintenance schedules, estimates, uniform codes and specification sheets.

• Interfaces with the customer on welding jobs.

• Welds production parts and assemblies per specifications.

• Improvises and uses production aids in conjunction with assigned work.

• Welds and fabricates maintenance, engineering and production aids, special equipment and material handling equipment using all types of metals.

• Performs assembly and set-up of assigned materials prior to welding. Assists in planning methods to be used in preparing surfaces and assigned materials prior to welding.

• Sets up and operates shears, punches, saws and drills.

• Solders, brazes and hardfaces all types of steels and alloys.

• Welds and cuts in all positions: vertical, overhead and flat employing gas or arc welders.

• Must maintain all certifications required by State and Federal agencies as required.

• Use of gas, arc, MIG and TIG welding equipment in the performance of the duties described herein.

• Employs heat treating techniques.

• Repairs castings of steel, aluminum and other materials.

• Repairs and welds high-pressure vessels.

• Performs structural steel fabrication and installation.

• While performing functions associated with this classification, may perform incidental duties normally performed by other trades.

• Understands and performs all job duties in accordance with the appropriate operating procedures/instructions relative to all environmental/safety requirements and regulations governing the work area within an individual’s classification.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).
• Must be able to work any designated shift to include overnight.
• Four (4) years of experience performing industrial welding that includes TIG and MIG welders, torch, cut-master, and drill presses.
• Must be able to set up and run portable and stationary welding equipment.
• Must be able to do layout work using standard tools and equipment of the trade.
• Must pass qualifying and/or practical test.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. secret clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• The ability to obtain and maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.

Additional Details:

This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement.  Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement.  Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union.
