    Currently our Troy, OH Wheel & Brakes production site has opportunities open for Machinists. This role will be based onsite at our Troy production facility and will be part of the UAW union.

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

    Location: Onsite at Wheel & Brake facility in Troy, OH

    3rd Shift: Monday to Friday 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Safely set up, operate, and monitor machining, material handling, inspection and process control functions established in a manufacturing cell to accomplish the required operations.
    • Approve set up, move material between workstations within the cell and maintain work areas and machines in a clean, safe and orderly manner and perform inspection and process checks as required.
    • Receive job assignment from supervisor or job assignment book, read standard operating procedures and routings, blueprints, Engineering Change Notices, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Engineering Specification, and any other applicable work instructions
    • pre-set tools and holders,
    • set tools for operation,
    • monitor and maintain tooling,
    • prepare fixtures,
    • monitor set parameters and otherwise assist programmer in tool life studies. 
    • Assure gages are calibrated (as required). 
    • Must be able to track the N/C program by sequence number as it is being run. 
    • If edits need to be made by the Operator, consult with Supervisor. 
    • Ensure proper handling of edited programs through Company quality system.
    • Attend training classes, cell meetings, and perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
    • Successful completion of Company provided training including a hand-on assessment test. 

    Physical Requirements:

    • Wearing of all personal protective equipment as required. 
    • In addition to the items subsumed in the job duties above, it should be noted that this position requires substantial reaching and moving while standing; lifting up to 50lbs; twisting; stooping; and response to sounds associated to the work environment. 
    • Near vision in one or both eyes corrected to 20/25 or better, check once every two years. 
    • Color vision test normal one time only.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
    • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
    • Must have one or more years of CNC experience. 
    • Capable of performing mathematical calculations requiring addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division and pass pre-employment qualification test.   

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Demonstrate oral and written comprehension and understanding of technical documents including but not limited to routings, blueprints, engineering process specifications and written work instructions, and ability to inspect all required characteristics. 

    • Demonstrate ability to record and interpret SPC data and take necessary corrective action.
