Department Overview:
The Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) group in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the materials characterization team. This role will be responsible for advancing measurement technologies while supporting business critical tasks such as field investigations, production stoppages, development programs, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
Work directly with engineering customers to define work scope and data requirements
Utilize advanced X-ray characterization techniques to deliver needed data
Create and implement strategies, procedures, and workflows to promote efficiency and data quality including in the areas of automation and batch processing
Identify, investigate, and develop external partnerships with national laboratories, and universities, to utilize newest technology
Train engineers and technicians on advanced characterization techniques
Work in a fast-paced environment where multiple concurrent projects is typical
First year of employment will include up to 50% travel and/or 6-9 month extended work assignment in East Hartford, CT.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Science & Technology related field
8+ years of relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience
Background in at least one of the following X-ray characterization techniques: X-ray computed tomography, X-ray diffraction, residual stress, X-ray fluorescence, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, Laue diffraction
US Citizenship or US Person required due to government contracts
Candidate must hold or be eligible of obtaining a US Government Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or PhD in relevant field with heavy emphasis in materials characterization techniques (Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, etc.)
Basic understanding of x-ray & radiation safety principles and protocols.
Demonstrated proficiency with complex engineering and/or manufacturing technologies, with heavy emphasis on machine-based control systems.
High degree of hands-on, mechanical inclination.
Active US Government Security Clearance
ASNT Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) Certification (active or prior)
Leadership in development and implementation of advanced characterization techniques
Coding experience for image analysis and data quantification (Matlab and/or Python preferred)
Image analysis experience
Experience working in large collaborative teams to solve technically difficult problems
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to lead small teams to deliver outstanding results
Proficient at presenting technical data to both technical and non-technical audiences
