Primary Objective
The Asphalt Processing Supervisor is responsible for the production operations and maintenance of the asphalt blowing operation including truck, rail unloads, boiler operations and the still yard processing plant in adherence to the overall safety and environmental requirements for the facility. The incumbent must possess a clear understanding of supervision and managing Stillyard Operators Technicians. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and must possess a clear understanding of all asphalt converting process.
Nature & Scope
Working knowledge and understanding of all plant asphalt operations. Responsible for all areas of the asphalt process including equipment maintenance, project/capital planning and employee development. Provide the technical leadership to effectively
manage the Asphalt Blowing Operations, Still-Yard and Boiler operations in a manner to achieve maximum operating and service efficiencies within cost and quality standards and in compliance with all state and federal requirements. Develops effective teamwork and utilizes innovation to achieve departmental goals. Ensures the continuity of production by effective communication with other production departments, Maintenance Department and Engineering. Accountable for safety and environmental management of assigned personnel, to include completion of periodic audits of the work area, safety meetings; thorough investigation of incidents reported OSHA recordable and near misses; evaluation of training needs on a continuing basis.

Technical Degree, Certified Trade Qualification, Engineering Degree preferred
but not required.
Must have a thorough knowledge of OSHA and State and Federal Environmental rules and regulations.
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Tools (Six Sigma, 5S,
Visual Factory, LEAN).
Understanding of asphalt converting operations.
Understanding of boiler operations and maintenance.
Knowledge of API standards.
Understanding of limestone filler operations and maintenance.
Advanced computer skills with emphasis in Microsoft Office Programs along with various software applications, i.e.: Kronos Workforce Central, SAP etc.
Organization and Time Management.
Strong oral and written communications.
Knowledge of team building and dynamics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Special training will be required in the operation of the Stillyard prior to taking the operational responsibility.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week, speak clearly so others understand, vision acuity to see details within a few feet of an observer, accepting of criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations, sensitivity to other’s needs, positive demeanor, and model change management for the business. Frequent overtime, holidays and call ins are expected.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Plant environment is not climate controlled. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating,
crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.
