    Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Electrical Engineer responsibilities will be multifaceted from supporting the plants reliability initiatives, to designing, developing, or optimizing manufacturing processes related to PLC's, variable speed motor drives, Motion Control (Servos), HMI, distributed control systems, instrumentation, power distribution, and machine safety systems.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Work with the Maintenance Manager to develop and lead the plant’s reliability program by providing technical support to plant personnel, leading root cause analysis through WCM methodologies, and improving time efficiencies.

    • Lead single or multiple product or process improvement projects from conception through commercialization and support larger projects as part of the project team.

    • With direction from Engineering Management or Senior Engineers in the form of specific objectives will manage projects from inception with specifying, selecting, procuring, installing, engineering check-outs and starting-up associated machinery.

    • Provides functional leadership and creativity in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of manufacturing and supporting processes.

    • Identify complex technical issues and provide necessary solutions to eliminate root cause.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university

    • Professional Engineering designation with a provincial Engineering governing body.

    • 4 or more years of experience ideally in a variety of plant manufacturing and staff support or capital project assignments, including maintenance and reliability.

    • Experience in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and Industry 4.0 an asset.

    • Expertise on packaging equipment, AC/DC drives, process controls, and a demonstrated ability to effectively provide troubleshooting support and specific project work direction to a broad range of team members.

    • Experience with the following manufacturing control systems: Yokogawa; Allen Bradley and/or Rockwell Automation PLC's, Fanuc PLC’s, safety PLC’s; VFD/VS drives and servo drives; Allen Bradley HMI; instrumentation, Ethernet I/P networks, power distribution.

    • Experience in SAP and Project Management Software an asset.

    • Working in a team environment provide creativity in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of converting and manufacturing equipment and processes.

    • Solid communication skills at all levels and the ability to provide leadership when applicable.

    • Ability to work hands on to support maintenance as required.

    Additional Description

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Manufacturing Plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, stairs and ladders. Exposure to industrial noise, dust and heat. Some travel required. Minimum of 40 hours per week, additional hours determined by work flow and project demand.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Requires wearing personal protection equipment as mandated in areas accessed. Physical demands are walking and climbing, entering confined spaces, and heights. May need to navigate steps and rough terrain at some plant locations. Travel would involve ability to fly on commercial airplanes and drive to remote locations.
